Mouthguards & Nightguards
Mouthguards provide a protective barrier for your teeth and act like a cushion to absorb any impacts more evenly if you get hit in the mouth. The mouthguard can prevent injuries like cracked, chipped, or broken teeth, knocked-out teeth, and cuts to the mouth and lips. Dental emergencies can be prevented by wearing a sports mouthguard.
At Healthy Smiles, we are offering free custom-made sports mouthguards to student athletes as part of their regular check up and cleaning appointments. All of our custom-made sports mouthguards are individualized to fit each patient’s unique mouth. We understand the importance of protecting your teeth, lips, tongue, face and jaw with a mouthguard when playing sports.
We commend those that are already wearing sports mouthguards. If you don’t already have one, or feel like the one you have doesn’t fit properly, please contact our office.
Has someone told you that you are grinding your teeth? Are you feeling stressed? Do any of your teeth or jaw muscles feel sensitive, sore, painful, or overworked when you wake up? Do you have headaches when you wake up or throughout the day? Do you have troubles opening and closing your mouth, or hear clicking or popping in the joints? If you have been told you grind your teeth, or experience any symptoms that suggest you may be grinding, be sure to let us know when you see us or make a new appointment.
Even without symptoms, there are those that may be grinding and damaging their teeth without knowing. We are always on the lookout for signs and symptoms of teeth grinding. If you would benefit from having a nightguard, we will let you know. If you already have a nightguard and you are unsure if it still fits, is worn down, or is causing other issues, please give us a call.
